According to the anatomy of the swine eye, farmed pigs are best suited to low amounts of natural light. Pigs have dichromatic vision, and their eyes include two sets of cones that give them their maximal sensitivity to light at wavelengths of 439 nm (blue) and 556 nm (green color). Pig photoreceptors are unable to perceive red (>650 nm) color. Evidence suggests that pigs see colors less accurately than people, and that they are less sensitive to the red end of the spectrum.
