Basis of technology: Spectrum
Plants need photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) between 400nm to 700nm for photosynthesis.
Two light absorption peaks are seen in plants:
The 400-500nm blue light zone:
Function: Promotes plant nutrition, making plants strong and leaves thick. This is crucial for young plants and leafy greens.
Blue light makes plants taller and stronger.
The red light area (600-700nm) promotes photosynthesis, flowering, and fruiting in plants. Effectively lengthens plants and differentiates flower buds.
Red light speeds plant flowering and fruiting.
Thus, LED plant growth bulbs depend on precisely regulating blue and red light. Other photosynthesis-supporting spectrum components are sometimes introduced.
Two types of spectra are common:
Full Spectrum: The bulb emits white light like sunlight. Covering the blue LED chip with a specific fluorescent powder provides a wide spectral range of light, including red and blue light peaks, and is closer to natural light. It suits the full plant growth cycle and is more aesthetically pleasing.
Red and Blue Spectrum: Pinkish purple light. High-spectral-efficiency, targeted LED lamps with red and blue chips are typical. However, extended purple light exposure is harmful to the environment and may cause discomfort. It excels in flowering and fruiting.
