For pullet growth and egg production, light is essential. Compared to humans, domestic fowl sees and reacts to a wider range of light's colour spectrum and has various spectral intensity responses. Chickens can perceive UV-A light (315-400 nm) in addition to light from 400-750 nm, but humans only react to light from around 400-750 nm. Additionally, chickens have additional light sensitivity peaks at around 480 nm and 630 nm, and their red and blue spectral sensitivity is much higher.
