Understanding poultry light biology and environmen

Laying hens need a very specific kind of illumination, therefore it's crucial that the chicken house's lighting system be set up sensibly to ensure they get it. Since the upper and lower layers of laminated cages are all overlapped and the net height of the adult chicken's cage frame is nearly 4 meters, the lighting of the lower layer cages will be adversely affected if the lamps are arranged on the same plane as ordinary cage chicken houses, which is common in the intensive production of laying hens. Therefore, a laminated cage chicken coop will utilize a lighting system that has both high and low bulbs. The standard height for the bottom light is 1.8-2m, with the higher lamp placed at 0.2-0.4m from the roost of the hen house. This is the only method through which all of the hens in the coop may have the same lighting conditions.
