Understanding poultry light biology and environment
The several glands that make up a hen's endocrine system stimulate the ovary to create eggs, while light stimulates the endocrine system. A hen's endocrine system may be activated by adding more light inside the coop, enabling her to continue producing eggs like she did in the spring and summer. She won't be forced to lay eggs, however. She can only lay eggs if she also has access to all the other resources required for egg production, such as a food rich in nutrients, clean water, and overall excellent health.
