What is corn cob ?
Many people want to know what an LED corn cob is. In reality, it refers to LED corn bulbs that twist into existing HID fixtures like shoeboxes, wall packs, high bays, low bays and post top lights using an Edison screw base. High intensity discharge, or HID for short, encompasses mercury vapour (MV), high pressure sodium (HPS), and metal halide (MH). LED corn bulbs can be used in place of HID lamps as long as their dimensions match those of the original fixture.
Is it safe to use LED corn bulbs?
The quality of the LED corn bulb you purchase will determine this.
You should choose a certified product for your market due to safety concerns. Different countries have different safety certificates for electrical equipment or components, for example. If you are from the United States, you should purchase maize that has been approved by UL ETL, CSA for Canada, or cETL cUL. A UL-certified label is typically present on the product. Most European nations require a CE RoHS certificate, but if a country has its own requirements-for example, Germany requires GS or TUV-you should obtain LED lights that are approved by these organisations to eliminate any safety concerns. UL ETL CSA According to respective safety codes, CE, RoHS, GS, TUV, and SAA all have approved labs in particular nations where they can test LED items.
As a result, please ask the provider to provide the relevant certificate for your country's market entry. You should exercise extreme caution when deciding whether to purchase anything if they don't have it.
Currently, there are differences in the quality of LED lights in the Chinese market. Some LED factories may pass the safety code without obtaining a certificate, which could be a sign that they have no plans to expand their market or that the cost of the certificate is prohibitive. However, some factories' products are difficult to obtain since they don't meet your country's safety regulations.
As a result, we advise looking for a trustworthy supplier or manufacturer who can provide the product's safety certificate. If the product you're looking for isn't manufactured very often or isn't widely available, you can evaluate its dependability with a sample. You can begin placing significant orders once you have evaluated it on your own and are confident in its quality.
Are the corn cobs suitable for both indoor and outdoor use?
The IP grade of the LED corn bulb you choose determines this.
IP20 is sufficient for interior applications where the working environment is extremely clean, like your home or business warehouse. However, a more dust-tight rating IP40 should be utilised if the area is extremely dusty, like an indoor horse arena or barn.
We must utilise an IP64 waterproof rated LED corn cob bulb for outdoor applications since corn should not be exposed to water in a wet area as this would burn its internal driver. Typically, the LEDs are covered from the outside. As a result, high IP corn costs more than corn LEDs of lower quality.
Therefore, in order to save money, we recommend utilising low IP grade LED corn lamps for interior low bay or high bay lighting and high IP grade corns for outdoor and partial outdoor (under canopy) illumination where water (raindrops) may enter the corn.
