Light is important to living style
The light sources you have in your house might be influencing your body's capacity for deep, comfortable sleep. Discover how to use your LED lights to enhance sleep and increase daily energy in your life.
The light sources you use in your house might be impairing your body's capacity for deep, comfortable sleep. Discover how to use your LED lights to enhance sleep and increase daily energy in your routine.
Different wavelengths and frequencies of light correspond to spectrum colours. Compared to blue light, red lights have a longer wavelength and lower frequency. This causes red light to seem warmer and darker. By contrast, blue light seems cooler and brighter because to its greater frequency.
Light at various wavelengths and frequencies affects the body differently. The sleep hormone normally generated by the pineal gland, melatonin, may be harmed by brighter, colder lighting. Cooler light can also interfere with the circadian rhythm, or sleep-wake cycle, of the body.
When you consider it, people would be awake when the sun was up and napping when the sun was set before electricity was created (thank you, Benjamin Franklin). Their bodies operated on a set timetable. Electricity, technology, and almost continuous light stimulation have all contributed to some confusion in our body. Don't glance at your TV or cell phone before bed!
What is Kelvin
One can measure the colour temperature of an LED light on the Kelvin (K) scale. Lower in kelvin are dimmer, warmer lighting. Higher in kelvin are whiter, brighter, and bluer lights. Some LED lights vary from 3,000 to 5,000 kelvin, increasing brighter and cooler as the value rises. To know where to search for colour temperature, see the yellow circle in the LED bulb listing displayed below.

Different usage
Let us return to red vs blue now. Blue light is higher in kelvin since is colder in hue. For some situations, such as daylight illumination or task lighting, this is advantageous. Imagine an office setting where you desire high degrees of alertness and production.
Conversely, red light seems warmer and darker. Lower in kelvin, it is more good for places of rest and leisure. Imagine your bedroom, where you unwind before sleep.
Look at our range of LED lights and bulbs; note which choices come in several colour temperatures. From recessed lights to flat panels to wall sconces and everything in between, we provide a range of fixtures. This lets you plan your house lighting, maximise the use of every room, and select a beautiful fixture to match every area.
Looking for bedroom lighting that is warm and won't interfere with your sleep pattern? Choose a softer, warmer light with lower kelvin, and you'll be sleeping like a baby in no time.

I know, I know - now you are very curious in the physics underlying light frequencies and wavelengths! Reminds me of undergraduate physics courses. Explore the history and physics of light (in far more depth) here. Letting the nerd out should not make you embarrassed.
