Experts suggest that exposure to direct sunlight for more than 30 minutes a day, especially during the peak sun hours between 10 am and 4 pm, can be harmful to the skin and increase the risk of skin cancer. Individuals with fair skin, a family history of skin cancer, and those with weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of harm from UV radiation.


It is important to note that UV radiation can also come from artificial sources like tanning beds, which emit high levels of UVA and UVB radiation. The use of tanning beds has been strongly linked to an increased risk of melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer.
