Subsequently, an aesthetically pleasing, exotic, energy-efficient LED light bulb emerged, and our typically reliable dimmer was unable to accommodate it. The dimmer and the LED attempted to function in unison, although they exacerbated each other's frustrations. In contrast to conventional filament lamps, the LED's unconventional yet appealing electrical design perplexed the dimmer, rendering it ineffective, while the dimmer's misguided attempts resulted in the LED experiencing dysfunction.
Unusual and deleterious events started. Occasionally, the LED would deactivate prior to the dimmer attaining its minimum level, a phenomenon now identified as "drop-out." At other instances, the LED would remain unilluminated until the dimmer's slider was elevated, a phenomenon now identified as "pop-on." The detrimental association escalated to a stage when the LED flickered, altered hues (often transitioning from warm white to cold white), and ultimately failed to illuminate. The dimmer failed to safeguard the LED from potentially harmful current spikes, and the overall stress of the circumstance diminished the LED's expected lifespan.
