SPOT VS WASH: What’s the Difference?

Don't worry if you're unsure whether to use a spot or wash light. What you want to use the light for ultimately determines what kind of light is ideal to utilize. Knowing a few details about each of these light sources can help you decide which one is most appropriate for your needs.

Spot Light: Spot lights generally provide a single, 45-degree-wide beam of light. A spot's light is similar to a lighthouse, but not as distinct. In comparison to most lights, a spot's light has a tendency to travel across considerably greater distances and is simple to direct and control.

Light Wash:

Spot lights and wash lights are essentially the same thing. The wash projects a broad region of light that doesn't go very far. A wash light typically has a 130-degree path, which is substantially wider than a spot. A wash utilizes the same number of lumens and watts as a spot but having a significantly greater light coverage area.

What should I use: Spot or Wash?

Use a wash if you want to illuminate a bigger space, such as a driveway, parking lot, or even just a small area. Use a spot to have more direct control over a limited region. A spot light will often look brighter than a wash light.
