Choosing a downlight with a high-quality LED driver(Most important point)
We may claim that the quality of LED downlights is governed by the quality of the LED driver since, according to industry experience, the LED driver is responsible for about 80% of LED light quality concerns. Therefore, selecting a downlighter with a high-quality driver is essential, regardless of the type of LED downlight you decide on. The average lifespan of high-quality LED drivers is more than five years. The market is home to several well-known brands of LED downlight drivers, including Philips, Osram, Meanwell, DONE, LiFud, Eagleries, Greenso, Boke, and others. Furthermore, using flicker-free drivers helps to create a lighting environment that is more comfortable.
Choosing the right color temperature
Different color temperatures of lamps often give people different psychological feelings and visual effects.
LED downlights generally include three color temperatures:2800-3000K warm white; 4000-4500K natural white; 6000-6500K cool white. The lower the color temperature, the warmer the light, and the higher the color temperature, the colder the light. Low and medium color temperatures make people feel relaxed and warm, while high color temperatures make people concentrate and feel deserted. Therefore, for residential downlights, most of them is with 3000-4500K color temperature. For commercial downlight lamps, you need to choose a suitable color temperature according to different places of use.
Choosing the right power (brightness)
LED downlights typically have power levels of 5W, 7W, 9W, 10W, 12W, 15W, 18W, 20W, 24W, 30W, and 50W. Nearly every application scenario can be met by these powers. Different powers equate to different lumens (brightness). Any LED can make people feel more at ease if the suitable power (brightness) is chosen. Most downlights on the market have a light efficiency of 85 to 90 lumens per watt. It can provide people with a comfortable living environment in addition to meeting their essential lighting demands. The living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and other areas that are around three meters high can use the 7W-9W (600–800 lm) downlight. Supermarkets, retail centres, and train stations are examples of big indoor spaces where 24W, 30W, or 50W is typically more suitable.
Choosing the right function
Dimming downlights, emergency downlights, CCT-changing LED downlights, and many more features are available with LED downlights. These downlights with extra features can frequently better satisfy the needs of the user. The DALI dimmable downlight system can save more energy than non-dimmable LED downlights in large shopping malls because it allows all of the downlights in the mall to have their power and brightness output altered simultaneously. Emergency downlights are a more sensible option for the entrances and exits of some major buildings, and they help with lighting requirements during power outages.
