Identifying the appropriate illumination may be a challenging issue. Advancements in lighting technology have significantly transformed the lighting sector. Lamps increasingly serve functions beyond merely illuminating rooms. A lighting scheme may positively impact individuals. Two of these technologies are referred to as "Tunable White" and "CCT". This blog will elucidate their essence.
What is Tunable White lighting?

Tunable White is a lighting system featuring adjustable light colour. This is modified either automatically or manually as required. It pertains specifically to the colour temperature of the white hue that the light emits. This may be effortlessly modified by an application or remote control. You may select from a colour range ranging from 2,700 Kelvin (extra warm white) to 6,500 Kelvin (cool white). This allows you to precisely modify the colour temperature according to your preferences and independently select the desired shade of white at any point. For instance, 2,756 Kelvin or 4,708 Kelvin.
This approach aims to align with the body's normal sleep-wake cycle. Commonly referred to as the "internal clock" of the human organism, it is also known as the "circadian rhythm." This can enhance health, alertness, productivity, and focus. The illumination replicates the natural diurnal cycle of daylight. In the morning, a warm white light is emitted, indicating the dawn. Throughout the day, the white hue transforms, incorporating an increasingly prominent blue component. Consequently, the light seems somewhat cooler, thereby resembling daylight. This technology is frequently utilised in healthcare and business environments specifically.

What is CCT, precisely?

To elucidate the concept of tunable white tones, the following clarifies the meaning of CCT. The acronym CCT denotes "Controlled Colour Temperature". CCT and Tunable White are frequently conflated. In our online shop, it is possible for these two phrases to converge. At this juncture, we distinguish between Tunable White and Controlled Colour Temperature.
Controlled Colour Temperature also allows for the adjustment of the lamp's white tones. This can only be accomplished manually, not through an application or remote control. CCT lights may alter their white tones using a tiny switch, which must be activated anew for each adjustment in colour temperature. The switch allows you to select among designated white tones. For instance, this may include 3,000 K, 4,000 K, and 6,000 K. Tunable White illuminants may be customised to meet your preferences and can assume a specific value.
Tunable White may function as a completely automated lighting system that synchronises with the natural daylight cycle, or it can be manually controlled using an app and remote control. The manual control option allows for prompt addressing of circumstances and needs. The primary distinction here is the remote control.
The acronym CCT signifies both "Controlled Colour Temperature" and "Correlated Colour Temperature". This pertains to the relationship between Kelvin and the colour temperature of the light source. A Kelvin value is designated for lamps to indicate the colour of the light emitted. A measurement is conducted in which a metallic dark item is heated till it emits light. The temperature, expressed in Kelvin, can now indicate the corresponding value a lamp must possess to emit light comparable to that of the heated item. Thus, the term "colour temperature" is derived.

What are the influences of Tunable White?

The changeable colour temperatures, ranging from chilly to warm white, allow for customised adaptation to specific demands and circumstances. Research indicates that warm white light has a calming effect on individuals. A cold white light is said to enhance concentration abilities. Tunable White thus endorses the principle of Human Centric Lighting (HCL). This principle prioritises individuals in lighting design. Tunable White is often referred to as "circadian lighting". This is due to light's impact on the human circadian rhythm. The sensation of a sun ascending and descending is expressed.
