LED versus Incandescent

Halogen versus LED

Fluorescent bulbs, being highly energy-efficient, have historically been the preferred lighting option in environments such as workplaces, schools, warehouses, and garages, where they remain prevalent today.

Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) are an energy-efficient lighting option that utilize gas reactions to generate visible light. Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) consist of a foldable tube containing a mixture of argon and mercury vapor, with the inside coated in a thin layer of fluorescent phosphor. Upon activation, the CFL's internal ballast mechanism transmits an electric current through the tube to energize the gases and generate ultraviolet light. The fluorescent paint coating absorbs UV radiation and emits visible light through the tube's glass envelope.
Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are regarded as comparatively efficient, use 70% less energy and generating 70% less heat than incandescent bulbs. Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) possess an average longevity of 10,000 to 15,000 hours, markedly exceeding the 1,000-hour lifespan of the majority of incandescent bulbs, although still lagging behind most light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

LED versus Linear Fluorescent


Linear fluorescent bulbs are functionally equivalent to CFLs, differing solely in shape; rather than the conventional oblong or twisted-tube design, linear fluorescent lights are elongated tubes. Linear fluorescent lights consume an equivalent amount of energy as CFLs, although exhibit a significantly variable lifespan, ranging from 6,000 to 60,000 hours, indicating their potential to survive as long as certain LEDs. This variety mostly arises from their production processes, operational conditions, and the type of control circuitry employed.
Similar to CFLs, certain linear fluorescent bulbs are being prohibited in several areas, namely Vermont and California.
