There are two ways to produce this white light: either by utilising a phosphor coating on a blue LED or by combining several coloured lights to get a white effect. The yellow light that is given out by this coating interacts with the blue light to provide an additional white effect.
Thus, the hue of an LED bulb is determined by the LED colour temperature, or the quantity of red, yellow, blue, and white light output. The colour temperature is expressed in kelvins (k), with an LED between 6000 and 7000k being categorised as "cool" and a bulb between 2700 and 3500k as "warm." The colour temperature of those in the middle is that of daylight or other natural lighting.
