Munich, Germany and Premstaetten, Austria (June 13, 2023) -- ams The fifth generation of the well-known OSLON® Square Hyper Red horticultural LED, developed by OSRAM (SIX: AMS), a pioneer in optical solutions worldwide, is intended to promote quicker plant development and optimise system cost. By developing LED solutions that provide high photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) at better effectiveness than the previous generation of Hyper Red 660 nm LEDs, the business continues to deliver significant innovation based on feedback from customers. All horticulture lighting applications, including as vertical farming, solitary source lighting, and greenhouse toplighting and interlighting, are designed to use the new OSLON® Square Hyper Red LED.

At a junction temperature of 25°C, the new Hyper Red LED (part number GH CSSRM6.24) achieves a wall plug efficiency of 78.8%, which is higher than the previous generation's 76.8%. It will allow indoor gardeners to reduce the energy costs associated with lighting all kinds of crops, including flowers, vegetables, and medicinal plants, that are cultivated under artificial illumination. The OSLON® Square family of LEDs, which is a ceramic-based package, is also well-known for being a sturdy and dependable high-power LED that can withstand high humidity and other challenging circumstances seen in indoor farming. With an extraordinarily long Q90 lifespan of 102,000 hours, the new GH CSSRM6.24 LED sets the bar for durability and provides consistent harvesting results. According to the ANSI/ESDA/JEDEC JS-001 standard (human body model), the LED can also sustain ESD hits of up to 8 kV.

"Ams OSRAM's innovation in red chip technology continues to raise the performance of horticulture LEDs, giving growers higher efficiency in a standard LED package at the crucial Hyper Red 660 nm wavelength," said Thomas Grebner, Marketing Manager at ams OSRAM. With the help of our technology, farmers can easily update luminaire designs and lower their energy expenses without sacrificing crop yields.

Crucial technical details consist of:

At 700 mA, PPF is 5.96 µmol/s, while at 350 mA, it is 3.02 µmol/s.

At 700 mA and 350 mA, PPF effectiveness is 4.32 µmol/J and 4.62 µmol/J, respectively.

The dominating wavelength is 640 nm, whereas the peak wavelength is 660 nm.

25 nm is the spectral bandwidth. The footprint of the ceramic box with silicone lens is 3.0 mm by 3.0 mm.

Ams OSRAM is a market leader in supplying the horticulture sector with established in-house LED technology. Our LED technology offers comprehensive solutions for all indoor grower use case situations, spanning the Hyper Red 660 nm, Deep Blue 450 nm, Far Red 730 nm, Red 640 nm, and Horti White regions of the spectrum. Furthermore, we provide a variety of sensor technologies that provide farmers a comprehensive solution for both growth and environmental monitoring. You may now purchase and sample the OSLON® Square GH CSSRM6.24 LED as usual.
