The many forms of emergency lights are frequently misunderstood. On this page, we describe the various emergency lighting options and how they work.
MAINTAINED
The luminaire operates just like a typical mains-powered version, with the exception that when the power goes off, it changes to a battery-powered emergency output.
NON-MAINTAINED
Only when there is a power outage does the luminaire turn on as an emergency light source. The battery is only charged by the continuous mains power.
DALI EMERGENCY
Using Tridonic or Mackwell DALI Emergency equipment, we may additionally provide the option of DALI-Emergency controlled luminaires. Greater control, thorough monitoring, and reporting of emergency lights are all made possible by this technology. This technology may be included into our selection of luminaires or provided as a conversion service.
CENTRAL BATTERY
In this location, all necessary luminaires—maintained or not—are fed with battery power for emergency lighting in the case of a power outage from a single, central location. A charge-healthy LED indication that indicates that the battery is being charged when there is a mains feed will be included on all emergency luminaires. The LED will turn out when the power is off, and the battery will light the lamp instead.
SUSTAINED
Here, the emergency light source is provided by a lamp that is independent from the primary lamp. Since the "sustained" lamp is only utilized in emergency mode, the goal is to minimize any chance of emergency lamp failure. Only an emergency luminaire that has been maintained will be affected by this.
