IP Rating
This specifies whether the light is meant to be used inside or outdoors. Use IP65, a high certification that offers dust and water protection, if your application is outdoors. An IP65 certification would still provide protection against dust and physical impacts if you are buying for indoor usage; otherwise, an IP20 rating would be enough, with the majority of battens staying shut.
LED
Many fluorescent battens and tubes are still in use, and ballasts and tubes are continually being renewed. Since T8 LED direct replacement tubes can now be bought, this is a bad idea. In addition to using 50% less energy and lasting five times longer than fluorescent tubes, LED tubes are almost identical to fluorescent tubes in terms of brightness. For the reasons indicated above, always go for LED. Additionally, compared to fluorescent tubes that contain mercury, LED tubes are much safer and better for the environment.
Integrated LED or LED Tubes
Since most LED battens on the market today are integrated, replacing them and hiring an electrician to fix them might cost up to $200, including the call out fee. Although the amount of technology that can fit in a tube is limited, manufacturers may enhance integrated products by adding heat sinks and boosting performance. As a result, always buy LED integrated batteries from reliable producers like Trend Lighting, Domus Lighting, Atom Lighting, Sunny Lighting, or CLA Lighting. When you buy from these brands, you can be confident that the producer has strict quality control. Steer clear of low-quality items since they may not even conform and will just bring issues. Purchasing a batten with LED T8 tubes allows you to repair the tubes yourself, so you really can't go wrong. However, T8 battens are considerably bulkier and more commercial, while LED integrated battens are far more streamlined.
Size
Battens are available in a variety of sizes, including 1 foot, 2 foot, 3 foot, 4 foot, and 5 foot. Since the 4 foot is the most popular size, replacing it will be considerably simpler and less expensive due to mass production. Look for two feet if you're looking for a shorter batten. Lengths of one, three, and five feet are hard to find and swap out.
Colour Temperature
If you are installing LED batteries in workspaces like garages, parking lots, warehouses, workshops, kitchens, etc., you should always aim for a temperature of at least 5000k because this colour spectrum interacts with the brain the most to maintain alertness and activity. A 3000k or 4000k per fixture can soften the light to offer more ambiance and warmth if your application has to fit a historical or traditional setup.
