The Taiwan-based LED manufacturer Lextar announced the addition of four new Mini LED backlight components to its I-Mini LED portfolio, which will be used in TVs, monitors, automobile displays, and nautical instruments. The goods have been produced in large quantities and supplied to customers.

Lextar presented the COB, DOB, and microlens array technologies used in its new I-Mini LED lighting solutions. The COB (Chip on Board) technique provides an ultra-thin design with zero optical distance by directly glueing a Mini LED flip chip onto the driver substrate. Additionally, Lextar combined driver ICs and a micro control unit on the substrate using DOB (Driver on Board) technology, allowing one driver IC to manage five times as many dimming zones. Lextar was able to effectively cut driver IC use by 50% in this fashion. Additionally, Lextar increased the Mini LED's beam angle to more than 160 degrees using cutting-edge microlens array technology, resulting in a brightness of 1,600 nits-three times brighter than traditional backlit displays.

Additionally, Lextar reduced the use of Mini LED chips by 20% and improved its 17.3-inch and 34-inch Mini LED backlight solutions. By using improved optical design, Lextar was able to lower the price without sacrificing display quality.

Mini LED backlit TVs will use Lextar's innovative products. About 20,000 Mini LED chips are used in the 65-inch I-Mini Blue TV backlight device to provide more than 1,000 local dimming zones. Additionally, the business introduced a 12.3-inch car backlight display with more than 360 dimming zones made of unique materials that allow for a 50,000-hour lifespan. The design will also be used to nautical instruments.
