ALIYOSTM technology allows for customisation of light emission patterns and pushes the limits of multi-segmented area lighting.
Customers may distinguish their lighting solutions with features like transparency, thinness, 2.5D bendability, and the ability to generate new lighting effects.
The ALIYOSTM technology satisfies legal standards for the luminous intensity of rear combination lamp (RCL) operations.

Customized multi-segment lights in novel configurations, such three-dimensional structures or "invisible" lights on curved panels, are made possible by ALIYOSTM LED-on-foil technology.

Ams OSRAM's position as a pioneer in automotive lighting innovation is reflected in the ALIYOSTM lighting technology.

Munich, Germany and Premstaetten, Austria (September 25, 2023) - ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS) today announced the advancement of their ALIYOSTM LED-on-foil technology, which creates a whole new range of design options and inventiveness for vehicle lighting.

In addition to introducing entirely new three-dimensional lighting and animation effects for displaying dynamic individual messages and information signals to drivers and other road users, automakers will be able to express brand personality through exterior and interior lighting in previously unachievable ways thanks to ALIYOSTM technology.

"With the launch of its ALIYOSTM technology, ams OSRAM is taking another significant step towards strengthening its position as one of the most innovative suppliers of lighting technology in the automotive industry," said Gerald Broneske, Vice President Global Product Marketing OS automobile at ams OSRAM. Customers now have exciting new chances to identify car brands thanks to the introduction of superior LED-on-foil technology, which represents a new revolution in the use of LEDs in automotive lighting.

Flexible, thin, transparent LED lights

Ams OSRAM can install mini-LEDs on a thin, flexible, and transparent substrate thanks to the ALIYOSTM technology. The mini-LEDs may be combined in a wide variety of ways to create individually programmable portions of any shape, and they are connected by almost undetectable metal lines. With distinctive, personalized forms and movement effects, they may be positioned to carry out common illumination tasks like a turn indication or stop light. Additionally, the mini-LEDs may be utilized to show messages, symbols, pictures, or abstract patterns for warnings, information, or decoration.

When combined with mini-LEDs, ALIYOSTM technology's exceptional transparency allows light to arise suddenly. Additionally, to provide striking new 3D lighting and motion effects, many foil assemblies may be positioned one behind the other.

In order to investigate the new possibilities in car interior and exterior lighting, Ams OSRAM is now collaborating with the top Tier One suppliers and OEMs in the globe. A translucent array of three ALIYOS™ LED foils positioned one behind the other provides a feeling of depth in one demonstration design, which takes use of the transparency of the ALIYOS™ foil substrate to generate unique 3D effects in back lighting.

Another design demonstrates how ALIYOSTM LED-on-foil technology may be used on curved body panels. It produces the illusion of "light out of nowhere" and is undetectable when switched off.

Automakers now have access to hundreds of additional design options because of ALIYOSTM technology's exceptional transparency, thinness, and flexibility. The use of ALIYOSTM technology may satisfy legal criteria, such as UN Regulation No. 148 regarding the brightness of turn indications, stop lights, and rear lights.

We have started to industrialize the technology. By the end of 2025, the goal is to have qualified for compliance with automotive quality and safety requirements, allowing the first automobiles to be outfitted with ALIYOSTM technology.

The ALIYOSTM technology will be unveiled by ams OSRAM at the ISAL 2023 automotive lighting conference, which will take place in Darmstadt, Germany from September 25 to 27.
