Calculating illumination and uniformity:
Illumination standards vary by competition level (training, amateur, professional, TV).
Professional lighting design software like Dialux is needed to calculate how many lights are needed, how high the lamp poles should be, and how to position them for optimal illumination and uniformity.
Minimum/average lighting uniformity is crucial. Glare and tiredness might result from poor homogeneity.
Method of installation:
Pole-top installation: Installation of a clamp or support at the pole top is the most usual method.
Installing roof eaves: Ideal for roofed stadium courts.
Track installation: Common in large indoor stadiums.
Height and spacing of installation:
Lamp poles are normally 12–20 meters tall.
Taller lamp poles may require fewer lamps, but each lamp would need more power and more perfect light distribution.
