Excellent wall plug efficiency (WPE) and output power: usually 115mW at 5.3%
Enhanced efficacy of germicidal agents: wavelength of peak emission at 265 nm
Small and robust design: exceptional R70B50 lifespan of over 20,000 hours
Munich, Germany, and Premstaetten, Austria (October 23, 2024) - The new OSLON® UV 3535 has been introduced by ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS), a world leader in intelligent emitters and sensors. The increasing need for effective and mercury-free UV-C disinfection and treatment solutions is met by this innovative UV-C LED. At 265 nanometres, the emission wavelength with the maximum germicidal efficacy, it delivers a potent 115 milliwatts from a single chip. This optimised system solution was created especially for clients in the UV-C disinfection industry and combines exceptional wall plug efficiency.
Nina Reiser, Senior Product Manager for UV-C at ams OSRAM, said, "Our breakthroughs in semiconductor technology and package design are setting the standard for UV-C solutions that combine efficiency with quality and performance." "This product establishes a new standard for the industry. At 265 nanometres, the optimal wavelength for achieving the highest germicidal efficiency to combat diseases, it becomes more difficult to meet the requisite efficiencies while preserving a long lifespan and good pricing performance.
Specifically designed for UV-C disinfection solutions is the OSLON® UV 3535. By providing exceptional performance, the best germicidal efficacy, a long lifespan, and superior price performance-all in one product-the product pushes the envelope! These excellent LEDs have a standard 3.5 x 3.5 mm footprint and may be used in a variety of small, adaptable designs with a high cumulative radiant flux within a 120° emission angle. The newest flip-chip generation in an open 3535 ceramic package, together with advancements in semiconductor technology and package design, are responsible for the improved performance of the OSLON® UV 3535 LEDs. Compared to conventional UV-C sources, the AlGaN-based flip chip is a more versatile radiation source because it offers instant-on functionality, output power, and wavelength flexibility. Its integrated frame technology and open package design save expenses while increasing efficiency. By enhancing light outcoupling and forward-directed radiation, the highly reflective frame puts these items on a strong performance trajectory in the rapidly expanding UV-C sector.
The benefits of UV-C light sources
In many different applications, UV-C LED technology is revolutionising the way we clean and disinfect surfaces, water, and air. Our exclusive range ensures exposure to UV-C light at the appropriate dosages only when and where needed by combining extremely precise presence detectors with spectrum sensors and UV-C emitters that are very efficient.
As an example, water may be sterilised in a UV-C LED reactor right at a building's entrance, but only if necessary. The UV-C source's instant on/off and switching capabilities are crucial since the reactor has to react quickly to many customers' demands for water.
UV-C LEDs are very useful for air and surface treatment applications because of their point source characteristic, which allows collimated beams, lowers losses, and improves photon utilisation. According to an amazing research from the University of Liverpool, UV-C LED technology uses far less UV-C radiation from the source while yet achieving the same level of system performance as conventional mercury lamps in air treatment equipment.
